Bundle Monster BM-H16*

Valentine #5
For the gradient/gradation I first applied one coat of White On to all the nails. For the second coat, I applied White On only from the nail bed to the middle of the nail. Once dry, I took the two Etude House polishes, and wiped them on a sponge to create the gradient look. One thing to note is that you might want to be quick, as the tackier it gets, the more the sponge bits pull off. So if you look closely, you will see that my mani had little bumps. Yuck.

Once all that was dry, I applied the Candy Hearts print from the Bundle Monster Plate using Hot Pink for the middle Finger, and then used White On for the rest of the nails. I thought this would be good because it would cover up the rough transitions of the gradient on the nail, and soften things up. It is just more forgiving really.

Anyway, the Etude House polishes were gifted to me from my dear Unni friend Y. Love that they are so cute! I hope that Etude House actually starts opening up a store in Toronto soon…I mean Missha made it over…why can’t they??

Designer Satin

*Products in this post have been purchased with my own funds, for my own amusement/addiction*

Many months back I was at Sally Beauty Supply (which I’ve been calling “Sally‘s Beauty Supply” -_____- why didn’t anyone correct me?! lol this has been going on for years…need to change my tags lol), and I saw this bottle on sale. I never used to be a fan of pinks…but I don’t know when that changed really…but I knew when I saw this, I had to have it.

This was on clearance, with a sticker marked “Last Chance” was stuck to the cap.

And I want to say that it was one of those days that Sally was having their 50% sales…so I got it.

I figured I didn’t really have anything similar to it, so I didn’t feel too guilty popping it in to my basket.

I only recently plucked it out of my many Helmer drawers to try it out.

And it was love.

China Glaze Designer Satin
It comes out a little more red in the picture, but IRL more pink for sure.

It isn’t super bright that I feel that everyone would be staring at my nails, but not so dark that it is too vampy for the transitional Summer/Fall weather.

China Glaze Designer Satin

I added China Glaze White Cap (that I added to the ring finger), which I also bought at the same time, and immediately regretted it lol. I should have let Designer Satin steal the show on its own…

Live and learn :P

On a final note, I didn’t use a top coat for this. And yet it was super shiny! :D

Cherry Blossom Sparkler by Barielle

*This post contains products that I have purchased with my own funds*

At the beginning of summer, I went to a buffet with some of the people I tutor with. It was a nice time to chat and discus random things. Plus it was nice sharing the tips on certain students that we would potentially adopt for the next year.

In any case, the location was pretty out of the way for me, so I ended up browsing about…and luckily there was a Winners next door.

Or unluckily. Its really hard not to buy anything when you step in to a Winners store…ha.

In any case, I like checking out the beauty section first, jewelry, than shoes.

It was the first section that got me in trouble.

I went in…and BAM saw a Barielle 5 piece nail polish set…for only $9.

How could I say no…

Barielle Cherry Blossom Sparkler

So today I wanted to share Cherry Blossom Sparkler.

Barielle Cherry Blossom Sparkler

Pink glitter in a jelly like pink base. It really is a lovely pop of fun.

Barielle Cherry Blossom Sparkler
I used two coats in the swatches, but you could do more if you want. Also it is good to note that it isn’t gritty, which means you don’t have to pile on a top coat to smooth it out.

Barielle Cherry Blossom Sparkler
On a side note, I have SOG polish on my ring finger. I mixed a few difference SOG glitter polishes I have, added it to the tip. I cured it for 10 seconds, than I added the gold nail tape (using the sticky layer from the glitter curing). I cured the gel again for the full 30 seconds, added the top coat, and cured again. In the future, if I do this again, I will add a second top coat, as the first was not enough to hold down the edges of the tape. But I liked how it looked :)

Barielle Cherry Blossom Sparkler

After I applied it, I realized that it is actually similar to China Glaze’s Mrs Claus! Mrs Claus is actually a tad darker than Cherry Blossom Sparkler. However they are comprised of the same kinds of glitter. Both are made up of pink glitter and than silver glitters. So anyway, they are similar enough. I would say that Mrs Claus is just a tad more gritty, but really it is hard to see the difference between the two. So you really don’t need both.

I applied Mrs. Claus to the ring finger, and it does look darker. I think it might be because the jelly base is just a tad darker. In any case I love them both. Not that I need both lol

China Glaze in Ahoy! + other ramblings…

China Glaze Ahoy!

Ahoy! has been on my mind since its initial release a while back. Look, I commented about it HERE, which is where I fell in love with it…

But alas…I didn’t jump to buy it.

And then it grew to be an dull pang in my nail polish loving heart.

So when I saw it on the regular display at Sally’s, I knew I had to have it.

China Glaze Ahoy!

It reminds me of a denser, pink version of Raspberry Festival. Without the same metallic-y shimmer that Raspberry Festival has (which is also another polish I love :P). On a side note, this is without a top coat, and yet look at how shiny this is! O____O

China Glaze Ahoy!

I also went to pick up my Midnight Recovery Concentrate at Kiehls, so I could participate in their promotion where you get 20% back on a GC to use for a future purchase. I wrote about it HERE, scroll to the end of the post…

I picked up the Midnight Recovery Concentrate in their limited time only 50mL bottle. Actually I went in for the 30mL bottle, but then the SA told me about their limited edition 50mL bottle. Then I hummed and haw’ed…and then decided to go for it.

It works out to be $2 cheaper per 10mL than the 30mL bottle, as the 50mL is priced at $70.

I got two sample sachets.

Not too sure how I feel about the experience in the Canadian store (I’ve purchased a masque and lip stuff in the American ones before, or stole my cousins stuff lol but this is the first time I have shopped here in Canada). On the one hand, I am happy that the SA didn’t pressure me to buy things I didn’t want. A HUGE thing for me. On the other hand, I feel like there could have been better interaction between us had she talked more about the product…

oh well. Now too sure what I will get with the card…maybe the Midnight Recovery Eye Cream? I got a sample of it, so let’s see how I like it…

I also picked up my free handcreme from L’occitane, as they sent me a reminder email about the redemption for it. It was part of a Facebook promotion that they had at the end of January, I believe. Anyway, a $12 dollar value for free. I liked that it was straight off the regular shelves, rather than some pile in a box behind the counter. Also I got a bunch of samples, when all I did was get a FREE product! That was mind blowing for me. I mean we don’t even get samples from Sephora when we shop…let alone get something for free…

Anyway, I haven’t liked going to the Yorkville shop, but the one at Yorkdale was really nice. The SA was very informative, without having to be pushy, or force a sale on me. There was a slight issue I did have, but that was due to the company itself, rather than the fault of the SA.

that’s enough out of me. I had planned to go out tonight, but things changed, so I am studying Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason. Yay! -___-

Hope that you all have a great weekend!

If you don’t have it, made do with what you’ve got!

Now I’ve been fully regretting not getting my hands on the China Glaze It’s A Trap-eze polish…

The thing is, I really don’t need more… (though you will see that I didn’t do very well in upholding that idea for others…) but this polish really great on me.

So what is a girl to do, when it is sold out?

Try and recreate her own. I should really stress the try, as it turned out nothing like it! lol but you can read about that more down at the end…

(On a side note, I couldn’t figure out why my pictures would turn out this weird hazy/blurry on the Hybrid. Then it clicked. Maybe I should clean the lens. Yeah…it was a very “Duh!”moment for me. I should now have things under control…)

Glitter Sandwich

Glitter Sandwich
I used:
American Apparel Supernova
Sally Hansen Secrets
China Glaze Innocence

Glitter Sandwich

Glitter Sandwich
(that is what I meant by weird hazy blur…ah…I should have thought of that sooner…)

Anyway, here is what I learned from this.

First off, get rid of the holo glitter. I LOVE holo glitter, but this wasn’t the place for it.
Second, do a double decker sandwich. Meaning, Innocence, 2 coats of Supernova, and then 2 coats of Innocence to finish it off. Now that I think about it, I probably could forgo the initial Innocence application.

THAT should give me a closer look to Its a Trap-eze, though not so in colouring.

Okay it was bugging me so much I redid it on a nail chip. THIS is what I had in mind. But you really do need like three coats of Supernova.
Faking another polish :P
Faking another polish :P
I might consider just mixing up a small batch of a franken. Maybe that will decrease the number of layers I would need? Another experiment for another day :)

Well to move on to something else…
I have the nail chip swatches, bottle shots, and mini info on the Hard Candy polishes. I just need actual manicures of them and I will be set.

Holiday Nails: China Glaze Mrs. Claus

Today I have yet another polish from an older China Glaze Christmas collection.

Mrs. Claus was a polish I wasn’t quite sure of when I first saw swatches, but once I tried it for myself, I was super glad I had decided to get it.

China Glaze Mrs. Clause

China Glaze Mrs. Clause
It is a glitter in a pink base, that has bits of silver as well.

China Glaze Mrs. Clause
I didn’t want to mess around with it too much, so I just topped the polish off with China Glaze Fairy Dust again :)

Glitter can be a pain to remove, as I have found through my experience, but there are a few methods you can always try out (that I learned through reading blogs over the years).

There is the one you use pieces of felt to remove your polish, instead of using cotton. It holds the remover a bit longer, and has more grip in terms of pushing the glitter off the nails.

You can always wrap your tips in foil, after placing a bit of damp cotton (damp because of the remover).

Otherwise I just stick with my lazy way. Just watch a drama while removing them. I saturate a cotton ball, dab three nails, let the residue sink into the polish, while I go back to the first finger to remove the polish. I proceed to move to the second and third, then come back to the first again.

Yes I know. I said “my” lazy way…but its the way we all do it if we don’t use the other two ways lol

Anyway, Hope that everyone has been enjoying their Tuesday~

Holiday Nails: OPI Excuse Moi

Today I have another fun glitter.
This was released as part of the Muppet series, and well, I only got it about 2 months ago.

But I have worn it about 10 times since!
It is just a fun pink based glitter.

I tried to make my accent nail resemble a Christmas Tree Ornament…dunno how I did there lol

OPI Excuse Moi

OPI Excuse Moi

OPI Excuse Moi

The glitter is great cause it isn’t just a pink glitter, but has random spots of green and silver. Fun stuff~

OPI Excuse Moi

I used China Glaze in Cheers to You for the accent, with some silver nail tape to hide the hideous lines I created lol

OPI Excuse Moi

Anyway, only a few more weeks left, so hope you get your Holiday/Christmas shopping done soon! Otherwise it might get CRAZY O___o
