So, I had come across Vicky’s post over at Blush and Simplicity on her fall blushes.
It made me want to share what I am look forward to using in the fall/winter. So here are my lovelies…
From Left to Right:
(Keep in mind that I did heavier swatches here. I don’t actually apply them at full power)
- NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Red Cheeks
- APIEU Nature Lip & Cheek Pot Rouge in Raspberry
- Sally Hansen Carmindy Blush in Fawn
- NARS Blush in Mounia
- NARS Blush in Dolce Vita
- La Femme Blush in Pinkr
- La Femme Blush in Golden Sunset
- Annabelle Cosmetics Blush in #18 Rosewood
It took me awhile to warm up to NYX Red Cheeks. It is too Bozo the Clown. But when I did, I liked the flush it gave me. As a cream, I need to be REALLY careful when I apply it. I don’t actually apply it like the swatch, but lightly dab the product, and then dab my cheek three times. Then I attack my cheek with a brush. Also, if you go too thick, I find that it leaves a faint stain.
Okay…so the Apieu really need to be retired. I know, but I want one last season out of it! Blended out, it is really pretty, which makes it really hard to let it go, despite it being past its prime.
The Sally Hansen Carmindy blush was a purchase from Dollarama, since we didn’t get the line. Basically, Beauty So Clean has been my friend for those powders. Lets me keep them longer. Anyway, has a bit of shimmer, which is how I like my blushes.
NARS Mounia was a Shiseido Warehouse sale purchase. Because it looked so vampy in the pan, it HAD to come home with me. It is a little heavy looking for summer, so I reserve this one for the colder weather. Looks shimmery brick red-ish.
NARS Dolce Vita is like its lighter toned cousin. A very fine sheen to it, and easier to work with, as it is on the sheer side. That means I can take my time, and not end up like I stamped my cheeks.
La Femme Pinkr, is a thrown in, since I need something…fun. A deep but fun pink, I use it when I need to take my cheeks out on the town. I kid. These babies are really cheap though, and you only need a little to go a long way.
La Femme Golden Sunset reminds me of a red version of Mounia. Like its Pinkr sister, a little goes a long way.
Lastly we have Annabelle Cosmetics Rosewood. One of the first Annabelle Blushes I bought. It was relatively cheap, and back then, I needed a darker blush. Formula is a little harder than the others, but it gives off more colour than the contour like products that I have.
