I actually came to know about these kits, because the diehard One Direction Fan Kelly over at Glitter Diaries, had shared a kit a while back HERE.
I can’t say that I am a fan, but there are a few songs I have bobbed my head along to!
In any case, I think kits in the general sense, are cute. You are given the resources to recreate a look, armed with the necessities.
This is no exception.
One Direction’s new makeup line created by Markwins and this is the limited edition kits. I got three different sets to play around with – TAKE ME HOME COLLECTION, LIQUILIGHTS GLOW GLOSS, and the ROCK ME NAIL KIT. Truthfully, I was amped up about the Nail Kit, and the Glow Gloss.
So what did I think?
Nail polish was pretty because of the glitter. So much lovely glitter :D Applies fairly well too. Sorry, forgot the swatch picture for this one -____-
The mascara is just a typical mascara. Nothing fancy. It isn’t waterproof, so not good for my monolids. Cream shadow is quite pigmented. I used it with the tattoos, and for the shadow. I found I ended up liking the lip colour a lot. Just looking at the tube, I thought it was too pink for me. Luckily the fact that it is a tad sheer meant it is quite everyday safe. It actually isn’t as dry as my lips made them look. I just haven’t been taking care of my lips with the cold weather we have been having. The gloss isn’t as pigmented like the Glow Gloss down below, which mean that you could wear it out on a daily basis. You could overlay it on another lipstick as well.
Tattoo stencils were the first of this kind for me. So there was a learning curve to using these guys. You can see that I had issues with the crowns lol. Anyway, I lay the stencil on my skin, swiped a few times at it with the cream liner, and then smudged it into the crevices with my finger. I then applied the glitter creme from the palette to the cream shadow. You probably will have better results if you take a puff, and pat the stencil using very pigmented shadows. That is how I usually would use stencils.
The gold glitter was a bit of an overlay. Not as glittery when you get past the surface. They are pretty, but I couldn’t find whether they were eye safe. I would assume that they are…I used this instead over the cream shadow when I did the tattoo. The other colours, were lovely. I wish they were a tad more pigmented, but with a good base, you could pat them on to intensify its effect.
Features all the things you need for a look.
I like that they are also quite pigmented. That makes it interesting, as I am a little out of the age range to be able to pull it off on a regular basis. These would be more like something to use when you have something fun to attend. These babies are ridiculously shimmery, and bright! They activate under black light, making the already pretty bold lip gloss, even craziers :D They have natural oils and vitamin E to keep your lips soft and hydrated all day and all night. I mean, it was pretty apparently that they wouldn’t dry out your lips, as they are glosses. However, as it started wearing down, I did notice my lips were still moisturized soft. They are a tad gritty since there is a lot of shimmery goodness in there. But seeing as they are pretty pigmented, it would be hard to wear on a daily basis.
The gloss in the kit is MUCH lighter and wearable than the black light Glow Gloss.
ROCK ME NAIL KIT
Happily– UV iced blue
Had high hopes for this one. Such a vibrant deep blue. Unfortunately it is VERY sheer. I did 3 medium coats on the nail, Even then you can tell it was quite sheer. So if you use this, a white polish coat as a base will help.
Moments– UV neon pink
Applied in 2 coats. First coat made it a little :T but the second coat evened it out, and lead to MAJOR love. Very bright, as expected of neons. It also didn’t dry matte, yet was loud and fun. Thankful I don’t have a job that would frown upon this type of bright colour :P
Over the blue Happily polish, the pink Not Afraid glitter makes it turn purple. Kicks blue glitter adds depth to Happily. Covers up the sheerness of the polish. Star over Happily shows up a bit more pink. All three are great accents in their own way. Very pretty too. I applied 2 coats of a top coat over the glitter, and yet it still isn’t shiny. I would probably try another coat, or go with Seche Vite. Nothing can escape that one.
For all three polishes, the brushes of the polish was a little bit of a pain to manipulate. They are also a little hard, so take gentle strokes to try and avoid as much of brush streaks as much as possible. The polishes alone look great though, as they are shiny without having to use a top coat.
The nail kit is also one that activates under black light. Again, don’t have a black light to see if it really does. But judging by the bright colour of the pink on its own, I don’t deny it. (I mean my white shirt glows when I go for Karaoke, thus I would think these would too!). I loved that they came with glitter. It gives you that opportunity as a teen to want to customize your nail game.
