Moving Down the Cream Alphabet …

*products in this post have been provided by the brand for review purposes*

Many many weeks ago, a little package unexpectedly showed up in my mailbox.

Gotta love surprises in the mail. Thanks @annabellecosmetics (@annabelletweets) can't wait to play around w them xD #makeup#canadian#bbloggers#annabellecosmetics#cccream

Having played around with a few of the products, today I wanted to share my few thoughts on their new CC creams.

BB creams…now CC creams…what the heck? I know…but there is always Wiki to the rescue! Basically CC creams are more of a skincare item, that work to correct the skin, before you add anything else.

The two creams that Annabelle has to offer are the…

Now I know it is hard to tell what happened here, so let me attempt to explain. In the last two images, I failed to zoom in on the two products, so I have more arm than I should. Basically towards the middle of the picture, you have the CC Colour Control Instant Perfecting Base Luminous Finish. That is why my arm looks quite light there. Towards the right side you have the CC Colour Control Instant Perfecting Base Natural Finish). You can see that there is a contrast in colour with the Luminous Finish base.

Now, lately I have been resorting to my mineral foundations. A mix of EDM (that I have from a while back…) and Buff’d Cosmetics (that I recently inherited from a friend, but no stranger to). The thing is, I don’t like to use them dry as my skin has been acting up, and insisting on shows dry patches. This is where the Annabelle CC base comes in. Basically I slap a bit of that on, and use it to anchor my mineral foundations. The bases don’t make me more oily than usual, and I don’t really have an issue with them. One thing to note is that if you have severe redness (like a crazy inflamed pimple or the like), this is not enough on its own. It will help to neutralize the colour a bit. On the other hand, you can see on the arm swatch that it does provide a bit of colour. So if you need a little bit of a pick me up, and have skin that doesn’t really require foundation, this may be a product you will want to try out. It is a bit of an investment though, seeing as it will set you back just under $17. If that seems like a lot for a base, I know what you mean. That has been the hardest part for me to wanting to commit to another bottle in the future. However, SDM and Rexall do have sales quite frequently, and you can snag them for about 25% off at times. So you may want to wait for those.

Just a tip, personally I find that I like to wait a little after an application. That way it can kind of settle on the skin, before I buff my mineral foundation in to it.

So…
Pro:
It is a nice base to use under mineral foundation
Does help to correct some of the imperfections you have may

Con:
It is a tad pricey (but a little does go a long way)
The Illuminous base isn’t really for everyone (it did emphasize things I didn’t want on my skin)

You can find these products at SDM, Rexall, and from their website HERE. There were a few coupons floating about the displays, so check just in case if you go in store.

  1. I love love love mineral foundation, but I have yet to find something that pairs nicely underneath my Laura Mercier Mineral Powder… I think the luminous base would be worth a shot… if it’s on sale!

    1. haha yes on sale is always awesome xD Best way to stretch the dollar and feed my need to buy mu~

  2. Great review! The Annabelle CC Perfecting Base is that – a BASE (which you clearly state as well). It cannot be compared to CC Creams that usually pack on the coverage. A true CC Cream offers long-term benefits to correct the complexion (treatment), which a base is not meant to do (makeup). Ladies who like their faces flawless will love it under their usual BB or foundation. I love it under a simple layer of CC Powder.

I have found that the Luminous Finish looks absolutely FAB as a highlighter, but also on bare legs, arms and shoulders. It gives a gorgeous glow in pictures :o)
If you have legs and arms you want to flaunt, this is a hot way to do it! You know, as soon as summer’s here…

    1. Thanks Isabel for that clarification! It is important because a lot of people tend to see the “CC” part and not realize that it isn’t a cream (unlike the ones that we typically see for Asian brands), but a base. I mean I didn’t realize that either in the beginning.

And thanks for the tip! I hadn’t even thought of using it somewhere other than my face! That is definitely a great way to flaunt our favourite features :)
