in a nutshell…

Well.ca

A friend of mine did a little french manicure on me a few weeks back.

After that, I wanted to buy more polish so I could do my nails. So I shopped around, and found that I could get decent deals on Well.ca.

Well.ca is more or less, an online drug store. The reason why I was looking at their stuff, was because they were offering free shipping at that time. This promotion has now been extended indefinitely, seeing as most people seemed to really like it.

Website:
The products are well described for the most part, and pictures accurately display the product. The one problem I did have with the pictures, was that there was only one general picture for the product. So in the case of nail polish, they didn’t have real pictures of all the different colours, but rather just a colour representation. Which I felt did not correctly display the true colours of the product.

So other than that, for makeup-y stuff, it was good. Easy to navigate around.

One thing I wish they had, was the option to have the prices listed in decending/ascending order. It makes things easier.

Prices:
It’s to be expected that the prices vary greatly with this store. More so than a deal, the fact that it’s an online store, caters more to the idea that it is convenient, than it is cheap. But they do have a daily, weekly & monthly sale section which is nice to browse through. And I have noticed that there are some things that are cheaper there than other places.

Product:
I somewhat expected the items to be old. Just a little, cause of the cheaper price. But when I received it, I noticed no separating of the polish at all. It went on very smoothly, and stood up to my everyday wear, without a proper top coat. So for the price I paid, I am very happy.

Shipping:
I placed my order late Saturday afternoon. I got a confirmation email stating that the order was received on Monday. Then Tuesday I got an email that stated that the order had been shipped. So I got my order on Thursday. What I really liked about shipping from Well.ca, was that it gave you the option to state whether or not you wanted to mail person to drop off the package on your front door, if you were not home. Seeing as policies for some places have changed, lately all my packages have been dropped off at my door when I am not at home, which makes me worry at times, despite the fact that my neighbourhood is fairly good.

What I also love is the free shipping that I mentioned before. AND they have hassle free returns! Now that is good service. (I haven’t tried the returns so I can’t be sure of that fact, I hope that it is really hassle free.)

The package arrived in a fairly large box, seeing as I only bought 4 bottles of polish. It was roughly twice the size of the small EDM boxes I get. In the pictures, you can also see that they taped the handles of the polish bottle, for extra precaution. The only problem is that the tape, when removed, removed the silver coating of the handle. Sucks, but no big deal.

Overall:
I enjoyed my first experience with Well.ca. There were no major issues, other than one of the polishes, not really being the colour that I had expected it to be, but everything else was right on the dot. And with free shipping…well…we all know about me and shipping :)

There you can see the tape on the middle bottle, and where the coating came off on the third bottle.

Hi Rasilla,
I’m Alex, the Community Director for Well.ca. Thanks so much for reviewing our store! We’re always looking for ways to improve our site, so we really appreciate your feedback. I like your idea of sorting items by price, this is something we’ve been thinking about as well! I have to apologize for the tape ruining your nail polish bottles. It’s not really necessary for those items to be taped and I think we should change that.

If you have any more suggestions or questions, please feel free to e-mail me (alex[at]well.ca) I’d love to hear from you!

Woohoo!
I got noticed. This feel pretty cool :)
Thanks Alex
