…and the last one for awhile.

So I picked this up during the new website launch. 20% off a 6 piece kit. It came in on Friday, and I was sooo excited. Mostly because of the long handle kabuki thingy. Another kitty to add to my collection :P

Unfortunately though, the sifter on my Winged Butter was not pressed down firmly (AGAIN!!) so when I opened my package, I was greeted by foudnation over all my stuff. In true EDM obsessed person, I picked up the loose stuff with my brush, and used it. Yes. I blame the poor student in me. (Which reminds me I have to reapply for OSAP again this year. Damn my student fees…)

I have fallen for these brushes. So far, after a week or so of using the Flat Top Brush from Everyday Minerals (EDM), it hasn’t gone weird like the Coastal Scents (CS) one. I took pictures of the CS brush to try and show what I mean. But it isn’t clear. If anything, I would say that the brush experienced ’splitting hairs’ which made it so rough after the week of use. I know. It makes no sense, but that’s the best I can come up with. Even after a good wash. And conditioning, cause I figured maybe it just needed conditioning…it hasn’t gotten better. Which sucks. I would be nice had I been lucky to get a good batch of brushes from CS, so that they could serve me well, and not make me feel like I wasted money.

So in short.
My take. Though I’m sure this doesn’t really differ much from the other comparisons out there.
Coastal:

• straight out of the package, VERY soft
• smelt disgusting
• gave me a rash just cause I tested it out on my hand before washing it
• bended minerals nicely at first
• after several washes and use, smell was still noticeable
• after several washes and use,, brush was more rough
• after several washes and use,, the brittle’s weren’t as densely packed, spread out more
• consistently shed 4-6 hairs during use
• brushes are not consistent. one was larger then the other in terms of size, and their softness

EDM:

• “feels like a kitty!” so freaking soft
• slight smell, but not disgusting!
• size is very convenient to carry around in my bag
• blends well
• shed a tiny bit during wash, but no shedding afterwards
• dries very quickly
• after 2 washes, still very soft, and bristles are still densely packed
